The RSBMB’s Proteomics branch is a scientific branch, gathering people working in proteome research, industry and education, in Romania. The RSBMB’s Proteomics Branch follows closely the RSBMB Statute which is an autonomous and independent body, organized in territorial branches and scientific branches. RSBMB is affiliated to the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) and the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) while RSBMB’s Proteomics branch is a full member of the European Proteomics Association (EuPA) and a partner of the HUman Proteome Organization (HUPO).
Aims:
- to promote proteomics along other -omics fields in the life sciences and biotechnology
- to promote information exchange and collaborations between Romanian proteomics researchers
- to organize proteomics meeting and symposia
- disseminate information on proteomics education and training activities in Romania
- to coordinate events with other national societies and with international proteomics societies
- to represent Romania in international organizations, e.g. EuPA and HUPO
The RSBMB’s Proteomics branch was established in 2022 under The Romanian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (RSBMB) and gathers all people interested in proteomics at the national level aiming to strengthen national collaboration between various Proteomics-focused groups or facilities. It also serves as a national contact point for international proteomics societies and organizations.
The RSBMB Proteomics Branch (RSBMB-PB) decision-making process is conducted under the General Assembly of its members which meets usually once a year at the request of 1/4 of its members or a simple majority of the Governing Council. The executive body of the General Assembly is a Council (Governing Council), which will be guided in all its decisions by the decisions of the General Assembly. The management board consists of at least 2 members (1 president and 1 secretary) elected by the General Assembly of the RSBMB-PB members by secret ballot and can be extended to 3 members: 1 president, 1 vice-president and 1 secretary. The Governing Council will be representative for all fundamental or applied aspects of proteomics and meets as often as needed, making valid decisions with a 2/3 majority of the members present. The members of the Council are elected for 5 years. The vice-president of the RSBMB Proteomics Branch is responsible for the activity of the Council’s working committees and helps the President in the execution of his duties. The vice-president is designated to replace the President in his absence, according to the delegation given by him. Alternative, if not elected, the secretary can fulfill the duties of the vice-president. The full RSBMB statute is available at srbbm.biochim.ro/mission.

For these activities, the branch needs your membership, which takes the form of an annual subscription entitling you to:
- membership of EuPA (European Proteomics Association) for the current year
- option to advertise using our standard communication channels (job offers and applications, event promotions)
- opportunity to apply for reduced registration fees for annual congresses, EuPA congresses and ongoing training courses sponsored by the branch
- possibility to participate in various national and international multicentric studies related to proteomics or other -omics disciplines
