LOCATION
Bucharest, the capital of Romania since the XV-th century, lies half-way between the river Danube and the South Carpathian mountains, on the banks of the Dâmbovita river. It has a unique flavour resulted from the melting together of Eastern and Western European cultures. It is Romania’s most important cultural and economic center, as well as its largest city.
The most important centers for higher education are the University of Bucharest (founded 1694) and the Technical Institute of Bucharest (founded 1819). In addition, there are several academies in both arts and sciences, as well as numerous research institutes. Bucharest has three central libraries (the Library of the Academy of Romania, the Central State Library, and a central university library) and a large number of public library units.
Bucharest can be reached directly by plane, by train or by car from most European countries. There are also overseas flights to Bucharest.
VISAS:
For most of the European countries citizens there is a need of an entrance visa in order to enter Romanian territory. Please do contact the Romanian consulate in your country in order to obtain more information
AIRPORT:
There is a shuttle bus operating every 30 minutes from the airport to the city center.
